For Enchantment, I spent hours of time drawing... More so than for probably any other collection I have drawn thus far. Inspired by the oodles of Austen films I watch... (they keep me company while I quilt), I began to research the quiet ways folks showed love and affection to one another in days gone by. I found delicate paper valentines and love letters... carefully decorated and cut into intricate shapes. Paper butterflies came to life from this idea... I spent hours trying to reproduce the delicate paper pieces digitally and I had a ball bringing them to life. Next, I spread out huge pieces of paper across my living room floor. I knew for the main floral, I wanted to go big. So, with research in hand detailing the secret meaning of flowers, I created oversized, abundant bouquets... all with meaning behind each stem. Queen Anne for home and sanctuary. Foxgloves for wishes. Roses as messengers of love and rosemary for remembrance. I had a wonderful time "gardening" with these beautiful, intentional flowers.
I have always wanted to draw dreamy birds delivering secret messages of love... and I was finally able to bring this vision to life for Enchantment, too. I love these messengers of love... wouldn't it be fun to get a note this way rather than receive an email? lol...
Enchantment is my new collection for Moda Fabrics + Supplies. It will ship this August to your local quilt shop.
Thank you for your support of me and of Sweetfire Road. Both mean the world to me.

You are a very lovely one-of-a kind designer and I just love your story about the creation of your fabric line, Enchantment. Your color selection is stunning and I love the touch of brown too. Thank you for sharing all and I can’t wait to make a quilt with your fabric line. I really like that you have a book tote project to make too. Thank you Jackie!!
